Son of A Temperance
by Lori McIntyre
Director/Producer: Judi Erickson
Stage Manager: Jack Davidson
Son of a Temperance is a lively, heartfelt celebration of Cookstown’s past, unfolding inside the very walls where history was made – the old Temperance Hall, now home to the beloved South Simcoe Theatre. As we mark our 60th Anniversary Season, this original play brings to life the spirited stories, community triumphs and colourful characters who shaped our building’s legacy. Set in 1878 Cookstown, this lively comedy follows the clash between the town’s zealous Templars and the proprietors of the local Temperance House, where rules are bent and secrets are brewed. Inspired by real local history, the play serves up fast-paced humour, small-town rivalries, and a toast
to community mischief.
Recommended for ages 16 and up.
