This delightful family musical is about loyalty, friendship, magic potions and talking sheep! When the Princess is sent on a mission outside of her castle walls, the Handmaiden called to accompany her challenges their friendship amidst a dark and dangerous forest. Touching on themes of love, responsibility, persistence and being true to oneself, this story will delight everyone.

Show Dates
November 21 to December 7, 2025 on Friday/Saturday evenings at 7:30 pm and Sundays at 2pm at The South Simcoe Theatre, 1 Hamilton Street, Cookstown, Ontario. Please note that Saturday, November 22, will be a matinee. Cast members are required to be available for the Q2Q, both dress rehearsals, the Preview, and all production dates without exception. (see below)
Audition Dates
Thursday, July 10, 2025 and Friday, July 11, 2025 from 7 to 10 pm. If needed, callbacks will be held on Thursday, July 17 from 7 to 10 pm. The auditions are open to actors aged 14 years and up.

Audition Details
Please prepare a song (max of 3 min) that shows off your voice and acting ability – any style and genre. You will also be asked to read from sides that will be emailed to you upon registration, plus do a short group movement audition - no preparation or experience is necessary.
Your song can be accompanied by our Music Director OR you can load a backup track on your cell phone. If you are bringing sheet music, please make a copy that is double-sided and put it in a three-hole ring binder. If you are using a backup track, a Bluetooth speaker will be available for your use.
If you are unable to attend the audition dates above, video submissions will be considered. Please mention this in your email of interest. Once approved by the Producer, we will request video submissions be uploaded to the candidate’s own YouTube page by July 10 at 7 pm. Please provide the link.

Rehearsal Information
Our first meeting/read-through will be held on Tuesday, August 19, 2025 (7-10 pm). Rehearsals will begin on Thursday, August 21 (7–10 pm) and continue on Tuesday/Thursday evenings (7-10 pm) and Sundays (2-6 pm), excluding August 31. Thanksgiving Sunday, there will be a rehearsal, BUT we may start earlier so that people can attend family dinners. Sunday evening rehearsals from 6 to 9 pm will be added starting October 19. During tech week, our Q2Q will be held on Sunday, November 16, our dress rehearsals will be held on Monday and Tuesday, November 17 and 18, (7-10 pm), and our Preview for an invited audience will be on Wednesday, November 19 (7-10 pm).
Young cast members will be needed for the entire time. Cast members must declare any potential rehearsal date conflicts on the audition form. This will be taken into consideration when casting.
NB: If you are cast, and your conflict dates change substantially from the information provided at the time of casting in such a way that it interferes with your ability to attend rehearsals regularly, The South Simcoe Theatre reserves the right to withdraw the casting offer.
Vulnerable Sector Screening
As this cast may include actors between 14 and 17 years of age, all actors and production team members aged 18 and over, will be required to obtain a Vulnerable Sector Check (VSC) prior to the first rehearsal. If you are cast, you will be provided with the information on how to obtain one and the required submission date.
Health & Safety
In keeping with Simcoe-Muskoka District Health Unit guidelines, this theatre will comply with any mandated health regulations.
