We’re celebrating SST’s 60th Anniversary with a special presentation of Son of a Temperance, written by Lori McIntyre
SHOW DATES:
Friday and Saturday September 18 and 19, 2026 at 7:30pm
Sunday, September 20,, 2026 at 2:00pm
AUDITION DETAILS:
From the cast of four (4) and we are seeking actors for the following two roles:
Brother Dalston – middle-aged, straightlaced, controlling and preoccupied with being on time. He likes to be “in charge”.
Sister Todd – middle-aged wife and mother – her interest in temperance stems from concern for her son. She is efficient, bossy and likes the limelight.
Auditions will be held at The South Simcoe Theatre, 1 Hamilton Street, Cookstown, as follows:
Saturday – 13 June – 10AM to 1 PM
Sunday – 14 June – 1 PM to 4 PM
If you are unable to attend the audition dates above, video submissions will be considered. Please mention this in your email of interest. Once approved by the Producer, we will request video submissions be uploaded to the candidate’s own YouTube page by noon on Sunday, June 14th. Please provide the link.
No preparation required. The audition format will be cold readings from the script, with follow up as required by the Director.

Rehearsals & Tech Week:
Rehearsals for the production will be held during the month of August, after the long weekend, and will continue until show time for six weeks. Full details will be available shortly, however it is expected that given the short turn-around time for this production, actors are required to be close to off-book by the first rehearsal. Tech week will begin on September 13th with full details to follow.
Health & Safety:
In keeping with Simcoe-Muskoka District Health Unit guidelines, this theatre will comply with any mandated health regulations.
