The South Simcoe Theatre Announces its 2023-24 Season!



Join us as we celebrate our 40th anniversary of bringing you great community theatre from our home at the Old Town Hall in Cookstown! While costs are spiralling everywhere else, SST is pleased to announce that there will be no price increases for this season. Follow us on social media (Facebook, Instagram & TikTok), or sign up for our periodic emails to find out when subscription and single ticket sales will begin, as well as calls for creative teams and auditions! Subscriptions will remain at $57 for our 3 main season shows (You’re A Good Man Charlie Brown, our March play (see below) & Honeymoon in Vegas). Tickets for That December Show! remain at $18.


*Please note that due to the ongoing slow economic recovery for theatres, our main shows for 2023-24 will have 9 performances over three weeks on Fridays and Saturdays at 7:30pm (*note NEW earlier start time*), and Sundays at 2pm

**That December Show! will run for 8 shows over two weeks on Fridays and Saturdays at 7pm, and Saturdays and Sundays at 2pm

  • This multi-award winning, heart-warming musical features the entire Peanuts gang, as they explore life’s great questions. Reacquaint yourself with Lucy, Linus, Sally, Schroeder and Snoopy as they play baseball, struggle with homework, swoon over their crushes, and celebrate the joys of friendship - while Charlie Brown tries to realize his self-worth and find the true meaning of happiness.

  • Winner of the 2009 Tony Award for Best Play, this dark comedy is about two sets of parents, living in an upscale area of Brooklyn, who meet to discuss an incident where the son of one couple has hurt the son of the other. The four of them agree to discuss the incident civilly, but, as the night wears on and drinks flow, the polite veneer breaks down and the meeting devolves into chaos. “A rancidly funny account of two couples tiptoeing around their mutual dislike” - The Guardian

  • Based on the hit 1992 film, this hilarious musical features an unusual love triangle. Mild-mannered Brooklynite, Jack, promised his dying mother that he would never get married, but that was before he met his sweet and beautiful girlfriend, Betsy. Haunted by his fear of Mom's retribution, Jack avoids proposing but, when he finally summons the nerve to whisk oh-so-patient Betsy off to Las Vegas to get hitched, a dashing gambler threatens to sweep his fiancée away to a life of luxury in Hawaii. Realizing what he's about to lose, Jack is determined to do anything to give his love story a happy ending. It all adds up to an action-packed honeymoon that no one will ever forget!
